For those of you who don't know what sEx means, it's Stash Enrichment Expedition, going to the yarn store, what have you.
The goodies:
Regia 4 Fach Haltbar (don't know what fach haltbar means, German-speaking friends please help)
Cotton Surf color 100g. It's made in label, but most of the words on the label are in German.
Yess, I have broken my no-more-blue pledge, but this was in the clearance basket and it's the only thing at the LYS that I bought just for me. Color choices were very, very limited. This is my very first skein of self-striping sox yarn, and I'm *so* excited. I bought a set of size 2 Brittany dpn's to go with this yarn and for other xmas projects coming up (very soon!). These dpns are a scant 5" long, sized especially for socks. Fabulous, long dpns are such a pain for sox!
Encore Plymouth DK in white & a lovely mocha-brown. The mocha has a wee bit of blue that you can just barely see. It could be that I'm hallucinating this color! I think this will end up as a xmas gift for a certain someone.
Saving the best for last: I...Have...Addi...Turbos! I plan to write up a full scale review on them soon, but here's what we know so far.
Went to the LYS to get something else entirely, but what appeared before me was a whole display of just about every size & length of Addi Turbors there are. I saw this as Divine Intervention from the Ya-Yas in heaven. I wasn't planning on buying needles at all, in hopes that I'll be receiving some from my SO for bday. But, I just had to have a set, and I really need size 3 circs anyway. Now, mind you these babies had a price tag of $13.50. Fairly inexpensive for Addi's. I've seen them listed online for as much as $20 before shipping. In my budget, however, that's a lot to spend on needles when there were Inox's on the same shelf for $3.99!
So, me being the cheapskate that I am, I asked one of the very kind salespeople if I could plop down at the class table and knit up a few rows with them before I decided to buy. And whaddya know, I had my knitting bag with me that was crammed full of yarn. I'm so prepared! I casted on 10 or 12 stitches and I was knitting away with the Addi's. Ohhh, this was knit porn in the making. These addi's are pure pleasure to work with. They are so slick and smooth, my yarn just glided across them with ease. After a couple of rows I slid my little sample up and down the cables to see how the join was, and it's perfect. I couldn't even feel a difference. No catch, no snag, nothing. And on cotton yarn that is similar to embrodiery floss! As I was playing with my new toy, I chatted up 2 friendly ladies, one who teaches classes and one who appeared to be taking one. I think I wandered in the middle of her one on one class, but neither seemed to mind.
Edited to add: By the way, my gauge for the Lara yarn came out perfect on the addi's. Xposted in other inventory.
So, I bought the size 3, 16" addi's. They are sitting right here in front of my keyboard being petted right now. *sigh* knit porn heaven!
