Wants Needs & Desires

So, I've signed up for Secret Pal 7. I suppose I should talk a little bit about what kinds of things I like to knit, and what kinds of things I'd like.

I'm seriously obsessed with cables at the moment. However, I'm not an Aran knitter. Aran stitch dictionaries are cool, though.

I'd like to learn more about magic loop knitting and intarsia. I really need some longer circular needles, the largest length I have is 29". My friend Brooke is writing up a pattern for these and I'd love to give them a go. She used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino, and I'd *love* to get a skein or two of it.

I also collect soft yarn for my knitting groups charity. We knit chemo caps for women with Breast Cancer. We've also knitted caps for people with other kinds of cancer. Our last donation was to Reese, a little girl who went to my son's school. We lost her last month, very sad. She was only 7.

I've seen on other blogs the perpetual question "Are you a yarn snob?". Yes, I am a little bit. I don't like Red Heart, Caron, or Lion Brand (except microspun). I love Knit Picks, dying to try Cascade 220, Lambs Pride.

I love candy and online gift certificates. I have a wish list at amazon.com that you can find under Denise Hunley. I chat up with my buddies at knittinghelp.com. I kid myself into thinking I'll ever finish a sweater, but I'll start and finish a hat without stopping. I'm always on the hunt for the "perfect" sock pattern that has ribbing from cuff to toe.

I'm in love with Lornas Laces Sheperd Sport... and I'd kill someone for a knitting journal that's bigger than a paper back book. More like the size of a notebook.

I knit up a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am swatch and got perfect gauge on size 3's. We all know that this will come back to haunt me later. The sock that's being knit with it will grow in size about 10 times while I sleep. These are the things that happen when you say you got perfect gauge.

Other stuff in the works... still fussing with the damn clutch pattern. I'm starting to hate it.

Mulling over Christmas knitting... haven't done a whole lot. Voodoo doll is knitted, but needs surgery to repair gusset holes. I see duplicate stitch in my future. Also, embroidering on knitting 101. If you have a tutorial link to share, PLEASE leave it in my comments.

Thinking about making sox for said MIL.... but not sure if I feel like it. But, then, I'll have to knit something for Josh and Abi too. *Sigh* Hard to get motivated when I see how they treat the stuff they have already.

Knot Much

Sorry if you were excitedly waiting to read a post chocked full of knitting news, I just don't have much.

I'm in whats called knitting limbo. I have nagging thing going on with the clutch... the swatch is bothering me. Something is missing. I don't like it. I liked it at first... it was smooth and beautiful, the stockinette background really played up the cable. It was gorgeous in its curly goodness. Now, I just want to rip it out. But then what? What will I do next? I have written the pattern, but I don't like it. I can't very well release a pattern to the test knitters if I don't like it.
